Today I want to share with you this super easy recipe to make some delicious coffee cupcakes (these do not contain walnuts, there is just one on the top for decoration!)

- 75g or 1/3 cup butter or margarine
- 75g or 1/3 cup caster sugar
- 2 eggs
- 75g or 1/3 cup self raising flour
- 1/2 and 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon boiling water
- 1 tablespoon coffee granules
(Walnuts for decoration)

For the icing:

- 200g or 3/4 cup butter
- 200g or 2 cup icing sugar
- 2 teaspoons coffee granules mixed with 1 tablespoon boiling water
- 50g plain chocolate melted

  1. Preheat oven to 180 C / Gas 4. Put 12 medium cupcake cases in a 12-hole cupcake tin.
  1. Beat butter and sugar until pale and creamy - preferably with an electric mixer on high speed.
  1. Lightly whisk the eggs in a mug. Gradually add them to the mixture. Add flour a tablespoon at a time whilst beating. Beat in baking powder.
  1. Dissolve the coffee granules in boiling water and fold in gently once cooled slightly.
  1. Using a tablespoon, add mixture equally in the twelve cupcake cases.
  1. Bake them in the oven for 15 minutes and let it cool for 5 to 10 minutes.
  1. To make the icing, beat the butter until pale, then gradually beat in the icing sugar, followed by the coffee and the melted chocolate. When the cakes are completely cool, swirl the icing generously on top and decorate with coffee beans or walnuts, if you like.
  1. Enjoy with a nice cup of coffee!

Marc Jacobs: Daisy Dream

For Christmas I received a very lovely Marc Jacobs perfume set off my parents.

I've always been a very fussy person when it comes to scents, I often pass on all of my perfumes to my mum because I'm not fond of the smell. As you can see behind the Marc Jacobs perfume bottle - I'm very fond of the sweet Victoria Secret body mist scents. But now, I have finally found a perfume that is right up my street!

Name: Marc Jacobs: Daisy Dream
Price: £52 for the single 50ml bottle (other sizes available)
Where: Boots and other stores

If you're a fan of sweeter scents, I would definiteley check out the range of perfumes Marc Jacobs have to offer. This perfume is going to be great over Spring and Summer!

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

Recently I took my first splurge on a high end foundation. After hearing a few of my favourite bloggers + youtubers rave about the NARS Sheer Glow foundation, I decided to trust their opinions and give it a go.

Name: NARS Sheer Glow Foundation
Price: Foundation £31 & Pump £3
Where: Space N.K.

"A glowing, natural radiant finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage that immaculately evens skin tone. Replete with skincare benefits and the NARS Complexion Brightening Formula, it leaves skin hydrated, more luminous, softer and smoother. Used daily, Sheer Glow Foundation improves the skin's brightness and texture."

The above quote was taken from the Space N.K. website as it perfectly describes this foundation. Texture wise, this foundation is definitely a lot more dewy  than other foundations I own, which I personally like as my skin is more on the dry side rather than oily. As stated in the name, the foundation gives you a natural glow and doesn't give you too much of a heavy coverage but evens out your skin tone nicely.

Due to the price of this foundation, I don't tend to wear it on a day-to-day basis and just on special occasions, however I would definitely recommend giving it a try.

What is your favourite foundation?

Black & White Shirt Dress

A couple of weeks ago I bought a new dress from New Look and thought I'd share a quick OOTD post with you. I'm a massive fan of monochrome and those who know me know how much I love stripes - therefore I instantly liked the look of this dress.

What: Black & White Shirt Dress
Price: £24.99
Where: Cameo Rose: New Look

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find this exact dress on the website, however, I have found you an alternative which I think I may have to go and purchase myself > Rose & Navy Stripe Shirt Dress!

As it is still very cold outside, I paired the dress with some black tights. Then to add a pop of colour I am wearing this red over the shoulder bag from Accessorise.

If it's sunny where you are, and I will personally wear this once the sun comes out here, I think it looks great with a black floppy hat! (From TopShop)

Making a Change

You may have read a previous post of mine 'Finding A Balance' where I talk about struggling to juggle work, friends, family and hobbies. In this post I want to share with you 3 ideas of how I am going to keep organised but keep happy whilst doing so - I hope this can help you all too.

1) Decide what's most important to you each day.

I'm a massive fan of 'to do' lists (mainly because I have a short term memory like Dory and forget what I have to do throughout the day) but it's very handy to have written down what you have planned, then you you can organise any extra parts of your day around your main tasks.

My new tip on 'to do' lists is: Why not try putting your tasks in an order of prioritisation? This way you can plan through them methodically and get the most important things done first.  I also find ticking/crossing them off as I go along very satisfying (I'm easily impressed).

I think prioritisation will help stress levels a lot because then at the end of the day you can be sure you have done the most important things that day.

2) Give yourself mini-breaks whenever you can.

Am I the only person who either has a super motivated day and keeps busy for hours or, finds themselves sitting on social media/Netflix for hours on end?

I feel like with myself it's either or - never the right balance between the two. Therefore, my second step is to keep the motivation to stay busy throughout the day but allow myself for short breaks in between. "It may seem like, with a million things going on, you really can’t afford to spend time being unproductive, but when you take time to relax and refresh yourself you’ll be a much better friend, family member, and significant other—and you’ll be more productive when working."

3) Make every moment of the day count.

"We can't be everywhere at once, so focus on being where you are right now"

I think this is one rule that everyone should live by, though I must admit it's certainly not the easiest. "Abi, I spend 7 hours a work, 5 days a week, how am I supposed to make every moment count!?", there's two ways of looking at it; you can get out of bed and be happy or you can get out of bed and be miserable - the choice is yours.

There may be some idiot driver who got in your way on the way to work, that could affect your mood but it's over with now so is there any need for it to impact the rest of your day? And yes, work is a chore, but you have to go to work in order to earn a living so try and do it with a smile. If you keep your mood light and happy it's likely your day will go quicker!  This could sound shallow but what I like to say is 'just think about the money' - you can then go out and enjoy yourself at the weekend!

I hope you're enjoying reading these more chatty posts ~ I'm really enjoying writing them.

It's time to start relishing the little things in between the bigger things in life.
