Halloween Chocolate Orange Cupcakes

As Halloween is tomorrow I wanted to share with you guys one last treat idea. Do you like Terry's Chocolate Oranges? Because if you do like them (or any orange chocolate in general) you will love these cup cakes! This recipe of course can be used throughout the year, so if you enjoy it be sure to save it!

  • 100g butter
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 50g dark chocolate
  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp orange juice
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 125g self-raising flour

For the decoration:

  • 100g butter
  • 350g icing sugar
  • 1 tbsp orange flavouring (optional)
  • Orange food colouring
  • Black food colouring

  1. Preheat the oven to Gas mark 4/170C.
  2. Beat the sugar and butter until creamy, then add in the chocolate melted. Add the orange zest and juice with the cocoa powder afterwards.
  3. Beat in the eggsFold in the flour.
  4. Bake in the oven for 15-25 mins or until dark brown.
  5. While cakes are cooling, mix the butter and icing sugar. At this stage I separated the mixture into two - colouring and flavouring one lot orange and in the other half added the black food colouring. Next, put the mixture in a piping pipe with a star shaped nozzle. Done!
